Industrialisation made Manchester a global metropolis drawing migrants from across Britain, Europe and the world. Through the interactive maps on this website you will be able to explore the history of how African, Caribbean, Chinese, Irish, Jewish and South Asian immigrants have transformed the city. Funded by the AHRC’s Diasporas, Migrations and Identities programme, our research project on “Mapping Migrant Cultures” is based at the Digital History Lab, University of Manchester.
